Car Show

September 22, 2009

We had a car show at my church a couple of weeks ago.  It was our second year hosting a show and it grows every year (which is a good thing!)   This year we chose a date that happened to coincide with another large car show in the area, so we didn’t have as many as we could have.  We also had sketchy, I-think-it-might-rain-or-we-might-get-totally-lucky weather.

For some reason, car guys don’t like that weather… something about the hours they spend polishing their autos to a high gloss shine…

I live in the Motor City… if you don’t know anything about cars, let me just give you this piece of information: These babies are a thing of beauty. Car shows inspire a lot of pride in an area that is quickly deteriorating. It reminds us of the days when Detroit was on top. It gives us hope that we can get there again someday.

And every time I go to a car show, I have to remind myself that a lot of these guys put blood, sweat and tears into helping these cars come off the assembly line.  It’s no wonder they are so proud to show them off!

This was my favorite, but I have a horrible weakness for Jeep Wranglers.  It’s probably a sickness.  I’m going to have it checked out.

My boss brought his fresh-off-the-Shelby-line-in-Vegas, Ford Mustang Shelby Supersnake.  It has 650 horsepower and some amazing custom work, including a matte black “ghost” racing stripe on top of the black high gloss.  The interior is completely re-done and everything has the “Shelby” touch.  The dashboard even has Carroll Shelby’s autograph.

To say this car is hot would be a gross understatement.  To say my boss is obsessed with this car is even more gross.

And last, a sign from the window of one of the cars…
